Why I Wrote the Book
Why Rachel’s Story Matters
I didn’t see any children's books or toys about radiology and medical imaging—and that needed to change. Rachel is curious, smart, and wears her red glasses like a superhero cape. She represents the future of healthcare—diverse, compassionate, and full of possibilities.

Most kids grow up knowing doctors and nurses.
But very few are introduced to radiology, medical imaging, and STEM healthcare careers.
That’s where this book comes in.
Rachel the Radiographer is a STEM career book for kids that introduces children to X-rays, radiologic technologists, and the real people behind medical imaging—through a story they can understand and remember.
But this is bigger than one book.
After nearly having to leave radiology school myself, I created the A Couple of Rad Techs Scholarship—and a portion of every purchase helps support a student pursuing a career in radiologic technology.
So when you buy this book, you’re doing two things:
You’re helping a child discover a STEM healthcare career they didn’t know existed.
And helping a future technologist stay in the field.
