Meet Rachel the Radiographer – A Big Dream in a Little Book
Share
Hi, I’m Chaun—a radiologic technologist, MRI tech, content creator, and now… a children’s book author!
I created Rachel the Radiographer because I believe it’s never too early to show kids the incredible careers waiting for them in healthcare—especially ones they don’t usually hear about.
This book is about Rachel, a bright and curious little girl who stands up in front of her class and proudly says, “I want to be a radiologic technologist!” While the rest of the class was expecting firefighter, doctor, or astronaut—Rachel brought something new to the table. And that’s the point.
We don’t see enough books featuring careers in medical imaging. Growing up, I never saw my job in a storybook. So I wrote one.
Rachel the Radiographer is for every child who dreams differently—and every parent, teacher, or healthcare professional who wants to open a child’s eyes to what’s possible beyond the usual list of careers.
This book celebrates curiosity, confidence, and the power of representation. It’s fun, educational, and packed with illustrations that make the world of radiology exciting and approachable.
Why I Wrote This Book
After 22 years in medical imaging, I’ve worn many hats—MRI, CT, X-ray, educator, mentor, podcaster—you name it. But writing this book felt different. It felt like planting a seed. One that could grow into a future technologist, scientist, or healthcare hero.
I want Rachel the Radiographer to start conversations, light up little eyes, and say, "You can be this too."
What’s Next
This is just the beginning. I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes stories, radiology fun facts for kids, and updates on Rachel’s journey right here on the blog. Whether you're a parent, a teacher, or someone in the healthcare field—you’re in the right place.
Welcome to the Rachel the Radiographer family. I’m so glad you’re here!
P.S. Got a little one who loves science or already plays pretend with X-rays? You can grab your copy of Rachel the Radiographer here —and don’t forget to share it with your favorite future radiologic technologist.
